Sunday saw our annual friendly fixture with Bedfor Priory B.C take place. It was our turn to visit and we had a brilliant day being entertained by our friends at Bedford. The weather was a little iffy with the odd shower, but not enough to spoil the bowling. As usual Bedford pushed the boat out and really looked after us. Good bowling, good atmosphere, excellent food. Thank you Bedford, look forward to your visit to us next year.
Yesterday we set off to Great Plumstead BC to play our semi final against Acle BC. The green was pretty slick and we had a tough time against a very good squad from Acle., losing on three rinks and drawing on one. Neverless we had a most enjoyable experience and we will be back next year to try and better this years performance, thank you Great Plumstead thank you Acle and best of luck in the final.
Sunday the 28th July was our Presidents Day, all procedes from Presidents Dauy go to charity, our Presidents (Peter Griffiths who sadly passed away earlier this year) chosen charity was “The Alzheimer’s Society”. Our Vice President Leslie Skinner agreed to take over Peters role until she takes full office in October 2019.
Considering the awful weather there were ove 50 members and friends who attended the day. The BBQ, prepared and served by Kath, Tony and David Pinder was excellent, several money raising schemes were run throughout the day one of which was the renowned Mavis raffle. Overall the Presidents charity benefitted by ove £400 on the day, Leslie will be continuing to raise money until we present our cheque to the “The Alzheimer’s Society” at our Presentation Dinner in October this year. Well done everyone.
We held our annual Ladies v Gents fun game on Sunday 21st July, Lovely weather, good time had by all. Followed by our Ladies Captain legendry cream teas. Result? Ladies won on a somewhat debatable count back, well done ladies.
On Friday the 19th July we welcomed the Yorkshire Ladies Tourng Team to King’ Lynn B.C. An experience enjoyed by all who took part, bowlers and helpers. What a super group of ladies, the result? who cares, we all just enjoyed the experence. Thank you Yorkshire Ladies.
A first for King’s Lynn, we have reached the semi finals of both the Jermy Cup and Durham Cup. The semi final of the Jermy Cup was held at R G Carters bowls green on Sunday the 30th June, a great morning bowling winning on two of the three rinks but losing to Downham Market on the overall shots,
The Durham Cup semi final will be played against Acle B.C on Great Plumstead green on Sunday the 4th August. The choice of the green could have been a little fairer with us having to travel 55 miles and Acle 5 miles, however no matter where the sem final is held we will enjoy the day and play our best.
Our first venture in to this format of bowling. Billiant afernoon, hopefully enjoyed by all who took part. Pretty sure we will be running future pairs competitions based on Aussie rules. Winners on the day Tom & Sue Reeves.
Little late in posting this, however, our first friendly of the season was against our good friends from Holt. The weather was kind to us and we had a really nice afternoons bowling enjoyed by all. The winner on the day was, BOWLS.
First competition of the season, the weather was kind to us and and an excellent afternoon of bowling was had by all who took part. A very closely fought contest with two teams drawing on equal points, congratulations to Laurence Scott, Tom Reeves, John Corden, Mike Bell who claimed the Ron Fawcett Trophy on shot difference.
There was an error in the last news post, our social bowling is 1.30pm for 2.00pm not 2.00pm for 2.30pm. Apologies to all.
