New Years Eve

The club will be open to all members (Boris permitting) on New Years Eve.If you fancy a social evening enjoying a quiet drink and a chat (food is available) come along. Much more enjoyable than watching the same old New Years rubbish on the television.

Closing of the green

Our closing of the green was on Saturday 2nd October, unfortunately the weather did not allow any bowling. However I am sure everyone who was there thoroughly enjoyed Jane and Pat’s  cream teas.

So that is it for 2021, a pretty successful year all things considered. We now look to 2022, opening of the green will be Saturday 2nd of April 12.00hrs. Looklng forward to seeing existing and new members, coaching for beginners is every Wednesday 10.30 am starting on Wednesday 13th April. Stay Safe and see you all next year.

Downham Triples

The final for the Downham Triples League was held at Downham Conservatives BC on Sunday 5th September. Unfortunately we came second to a very strong Downham BC “A”, that did not stop us from enjoying the afternoon, great hospitality, lovely weather and quality bowling. Roll on next years bowling.

Hansells Cup

Last Saturday morning we played Dickleburgh Bowls Club in the semi final of the Hansells Cup, a close game with us just running out winners. In the afternoon we played County Arts in the final, County Arts getting the better of us, congratulations to County Arts. We had a brilliant days bowling and thoroughly enjoyed the company of both clubs. A big thank you to Wymondham Dell for their excellent hospitality.

Now on to our Fourth semi final of the season, against Downham Market ‘B’ in the Downham Triples League.

Congratulations to John Abbott and his squad, who last week clinched the winning of the     West 2 division in the Norfolk EBA League by a comfortable margin of 11.5 points. The team now meet Dickleburgh BC in the semi final of the Hansells Cup, to be held at            Wymondham Dell BC on the 28th August. Good luck on the day to John and his squad.

Unfortunately both teams lost in their semi finals on Sunday. However both teams thoroughly enjoyed the days bowling and would like to thank both R G Carter and Holt Bowling Clubs for their hospitality. And just to say WE WILL BE BACK!!

This Sunday sees our club in two Norfolk County semi finals. The Durham Cup ( NCBA ) we are playing Wootton Park at Holt 11.30 start. The Jermy Cup ( NBA ) we are playing County Arts at R G Carters 10.00 start. GOOD LUCK TO BOTH SQUADS.

Sunday the 18th July was Presidents day. The whole day is dedicated to raising funds for the resident Presidents, Geoffrey Upton, chosen charity which was, “The Daisy Garland”.

The weather was brilliant, the food (catered by Tony and Kath Pinder) was excellent. There were various fund raising schemes going on throughout the day, raffle, number of sweets in a jar, guess the weight of the cake, target bowls to name but a few. There was also the important   “Presidents Plate” competition to play for, won by, guess who? the President, Geoffrey Upton.

The whole day was an outstanding success and a grand total of £765 was raised for “The Daisy Garland”. I would like to thank all members and guests who attended on the day, and of course those who were unable to attend for their unbelievable generosity.
